Walk On By...

I eyed this guy across the street
Black collared shirt and wavy hair
While he waited on the corner for the sign to change
I hoped he didn’t notice me stare.

He wiped his brow with the back of his hand
The top button of his shirt undone.
Toned forearms under rolled up sleeves,
While over his shoulder a guitar was slung.

As the light changed, and we passed each other by
To my surprise,
he turned towards me and smiled
Those dimples and deep almond eyes
made me want to say something,.. Hi?

But… I just let him walk on by
He seemed in a hurry to get somewhere
Boy, I wish he was heading for me instead
But I just let him walk on by.

Was late for a practice with the guys in the band
Lugging my guitar down Granville Street

when I noticed a girl look at me so sweet.

I felt her brush past me in the middle of the road
And looked back hoping she’d turn my way
'cos there was something I was dying to say
Don’t know you girl, but you made my day.

But… I just let her walk on by
Looked like she was going somewhere
I wish she was heading for me instead.
But I just let her walk on by.

The guys say it wasn't meant to be,
But what if our destiny was up to me?

If I had stopped to talk to her,
Maybe we’d be together tonight.

I'd play her a song under the moonlight.

But I just let her walk on by
Looked like she had to get somewhere
I wish she was heading for me instead.
But I just let her walk on by.

My friends say let it go,
What kind of man he is you don’t even know.
But I look for that guitar wherever I go

Some days I take the long way home
Just to pass that corner slow
She might return, you never know.
I just let her walk on by

I just let him walk on by
Looked like he needed to get somewhere

Wish that she was heading for me instead.
I just let her walk on by.

I just let him walk on by.
