Black night
Cluster of city lights
glimmering in the distance.
The half bitten moon
is the only witness
to my dreamy eyes,
our childlike smiles,
and the warmth I feel between us.

Wet grass, damp socks, cool breeze
I shiver as they all seem to rush right through me.
But you take me in your arms,
spinning me around in a whimsical waltz,
And each time you get a little closer,
I know I am forever sheltered from the cold.

I step up onto an old wooden bench,
and watch the water lillies resting over a calm pond.
The stillness quiets my thoughts
until I can only hear a cricket singing a gentle tune
and feel your breath, peaceful and loving,
against my cheek, as you join me.

Darkness surrounds us,
but everything about you is light-
your touch, your voice, your whispering words

Like that one small opening in the bushes
on the other side of the water

Something magical,
surrounded by a soothing green light

a welcome pathway
that draws me in
without any effort.
I just can't seem to turn away.
